EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Make It

On a rainy Thursday evening in New York City, KidCarol invited her community into a world made of feeling. Emotional Intelligence was a week-long exhibition held from October 30th to November 9th, 2025, featuring nine bodies of work. These pieces reflect nearly a year of creation inspired by introspection and transformation. Each one offered a lesson across a wide spectrum of emotions—from grief and heartbreak to vulnerability, anticipation, uncertainty, and more.

KidCarol first introduced this body of work last winter through a one-day pre-exhibition gathering at All St. Gallery in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The soft opening was an intimate moment that united supporters and gave them a glimpse into the evolution of a collection that has now fully bloomed. She has always expressed that her practice is her safe haven, a space where she can process life as it happens.

My work functions like a freehand journal—an emotional record where paint flows in response to lived experience.

Her approach to painting is rooted in vulnerability. Each stroke becomes a form of release, a way to translate the intangible weight and wonder of emotion into something we can stand before—maybe even recognize in ourselves.

Hosted at Flowing Space Gallery, a hybrid gallery and tea bar, the exhibition felt grounded in mindfulness. Surrounded by gentle lighting, warm teas, and soft conversation, guests were not only able to experience the art IRL but also feel with it. The soothing ambiance, paired with the rhythmic sound of rain and soft classical music, created the perfect environment for internal reflection. Viewers could comfortably slow down and connect with Carol, her work, and one another.

Behind the scenes, the exhibition was produced by Shalin Studios, whose dedication ensured Carol’s emotive creations were presented with intention and care.

The piece that stood out to us the most was Safe Space because it fully embodied KidCarol’s approach to her art. A safe space is more than a room or a moment; it’s a feeling of being allowed to exist without shrinking, without performing, and without fear of being misunderstood. In her work, KidCarol makes that feeling visible. She builds environments where vulnerability isn’t a liability but a language. Safe Space resonated deeply because it served as a reminder that liberation begins with having somewhere—or someone—that allows us to breathe a little deeper and exist as our most authentic selves.

Across the rest of the collection, KidCarol taps into a form of storytelling that is both personal and universal. She explores what happens when we pause in a world of constant stimulation.

In a world overwhelmed by speed and stimulation, I aim to offer a visual counterweight—one that invites stillness and encourages presence

Emotional Intelligence stands as the opening chapter of her distinct artistic legacy, a moment of empowerment and a celebration of letting feelings be seen.

We can’t wait to see what KidCarol brings us next.
